does anyone actually read this?

while i wouldn't be surprised if the answer were no since i haven't posted an update since 2008...i am pondering the "reactivation" of my blog...thoughts?

no where to run, no where to hide

one of my professors randomly calls on students to participate in "reenactments" of various body processes. she usually picks students who are seated in the front row or at the ends of rows, so i always feel quite confident that i will be spared as i sit comfortably in the middle of the auditorium, middle of the row...

however, as she randomly selected her "victims" this morning and i was, per usual, avoiding eye contact, imagine my shock and horror to be called upon and my middle-of-the-auditorium-middle-of-the-row-self being summoned to the front of the classroom!

after climbing over people and books, i made my way to the front for a demonstration with my fellow "victims" on drug distribution and plasma protein binding. as if this impromptu skit wasn't mortifying enough, in her reenactment, we had to perform the chicken dance to represent active receptor sites!

oh the humiliation...

when was the last time you were topless in public?

yes, topless!! how about today?

today in health assessment lab we learned how to perform respiratory exams and guess who the patient was...you got it! (in all fairness though, my partner had to disrobe for me too!)

week one at jhu!

accelerated...sounds doable, right?

they weren't kidding!

i kicked off my first semester at johns hopkins school of nursing monday, june 2. it was exhilarating and exhausting...

this semester is super short -- nine weeks of instruction plus finals! (and i have already completed one...yikes!)

i am taking five courses and will be spending one day a week at good samaritan hospital working in the rehabilitation unit for spinal cord and neurological injuries plus other medical overflow. i can't wait!

my new skills for the week include taking a complete health history and vital signs (pulse, respirations and blood pressure). doesn't seem like much but it is harder than it sounds, trust me!

it's a blog...

i used to be a procrastinator but i'm not anymore...

here it is, my blog detailing the newest adventure of my life -- nursing school!

hope you enjoy it.
